Lock Your Vehicles At Night!
In the early morning hours of 8/18/25, three individuals entered our community by the emergency exit gates at the south end of our property on Church Street and rummaged through many vehicles that were left out and unlocked. Fortunately, small change only was taken and there was no other damage to the vehicles. PLEASE BE SURE TO LOCK YOUR VEHICLES AT NIGHT IF YOU ARE LEAVING THEM OUT.
The board recently voted to change the emergency exit gates to include chain link on the gates so that individuals will no longer be able to climb through them to access our community. One of the main charges of the board is to do everything possible to provide a safe and secure community. This decision is an additional action that will promote safety and security in BME. BME Boundary Fence Demolished (again)
About half of our boundary fence behind homes on Johnny's Path, separating our community from the Sunrise Highway service road, was demolished on 8/1/25, by a young driver who was intoxicated, causing significant damage to our fence. Board members took quick action to obtain the necessary police report, repair estimate, and insurance check from the violator's insurance company, enabling the board to expedite the repair of the fence AT NO COST TO OUR HOA.
FYI, Residents...the Legislative Committee of BME has appealed to the NYS Dept. of Transportation three times, through the office of NY State Senator Alexis Weik, for the installation of a guardrail along the northern border of our property which abuts the Sunrise Highway eastbound service road. After three "traffic studies" of this area, NYS DOT has decided that there is "NO NEED" for a guardrail in this area. This is extremely frustrating since we have had nearly $15,000 in damages to our property due to accidents along this dangerous strip of roadway. The Legislative Committee will continue this pursuit until our government agencies and officials realize "THE NEED."
